Are you a grandparent who is concerned about the spiritual welfare of your grandchildren? If you are, you are not alone. It only takes a brief look at the circumstances of the modern world to draw the conclusion that your grandchildren won’t be growing up in the world you did.
This is one of the main reasons we started Grandly – The Strategic Grandparents Club. Modern grandparents’ concerns are valid and we think that one of God’s main strategies for impacting young people today is you, their grandparents. You are perfectly positioned to make a difference. The challenge is in knowing what to do and how to do it. The answer can be found by having grandparents share their wisdom, experiences, successes, and failures. That is why we are beginning one-day “Do It Grandly” conferences.
Being together with others who face a similar challenge will give grandparents new ideas, increased motivation, and some other “mission collaborators”. Our hope is to equip everyone with several takeaway ideas as we build a network of encouragement and support.
We will look specifically at how grandparents pass on their faith to their grandchildren. Grandparents have a God-given role in their grandchildren’s lives as Moses defined in Deuteronomy 4:9: “Take heed and be diligent not to forget the things which your own eyes have seen. As long as you live, do not let them pass from your memory but teach them to your children and to your grandchildren.”
The conference will have several talks on strategic grandparenting. There will be workshops on:
- Using technology to pass on your faith
- Working with your children for the sake of your grandchildren
- Overcoming the challenges of geography, money, and time.
We will also have discussion groups to share ideas and a bit of prayer!
As the baby-boomers go through their grandparenting years, they could have an unprecedented good impact on a new generation of young people. The boom is about to begin!
