When I was young, MAD magazine was popular with young teens for its wacky sense of humor. Part of its cleverness was that it almost always had Alfred E. Neuman on the cover, mimicking someone and asking something like, “What, me worry?” Fortunately, in order to write for us at Grandly you do not need proof that you are undergoing psycho-therapy nor do you need to supply a picture of yourself that we can parody.
Grandly is a network of grandparents and youth workers who write about how to pass on their faith and the Gospel to today’s young people. Do you have a story to tell of how you have helped your grandchildren grow in their faith? One that might be of help to other grandparents looking for fresh ideas to try? Perhaps you’ve used some new technology or discovered a special way to pray for their needs. Or, maybe you have found a new and creative way to bridge the long-distance travel gap you have with your grandchildren. In any case, we’d love to hear your story and would be happy to work with you to write something wonderful that becomes a post on our Grandly website!
Our Grandly posts are generally short (350-450 words) and often begin with a story to capture the imaginations of our readers. Your writing simply relates what you have learned by telling a story that “captivates the hearts and minds of other grandparents.”
However, just telling a great story isn’t our end goal. Posts will hopefully bring about changes in the way many grandparents think, pray, and act in the lives of their grandchildren. Our posts generally follow-up the introductory story with a few thoughts on how it helped to strengthen your relationships with your grandchildren.
We want grandparents to gain practical insights on how they too can make a difference in the lives of their own grandchildren. It really is possible for a strategic grandparent to help bring life-changing truth to young minds. These truths can guide them in dealing with significant decisions they will have later in life.
Many of you have written for us already. We would like to invite you to do so again. The process is simple. If you have an idea or a story to share, simply email Diana at grandlyassistant@gmail.com. Don’t stress about grammar or punctuation–we have a team that can help with that. If you find it easier, just send us an audio recording of your thoughts and ideas. We will work with you!
We are glad to have you share with us as partners in our mission.
